Bracken

Our land is bracken infested. Initially we saw it as a problem but as time went on we came to understand that bracken, if handled correctly, can be very helpful for a number of applications. For our situation right now we will be using it for the following applications:-

• Composting: Bracken is a versatile composting material that can be used 

Some facts about Braken

Propogation

• Bracken produces spores approximately once every 10 years
• You will find the spores in a thin strip on the curled-over edge of the underside of the fronds

Harvesting

• Pulling bracken can result in some nasty cuts. Wear gloves!
